Platinum-selling recording artist Gucci Mane published his second book, The Gucci Mane Guide To Greatness, on 13 Oct 2020.

The rapper made an announcement earlier this year, assuring fans that his second book would be released before the end of the year. Mane has stuck to his words despite the effects of the pandemic and its drawbacks.

The Gucci Mane Guide To Greatness is a follow-up book from the 2017 released best-selling book, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane. Mane’s first book has become one of the most successful literature pieces ever to be published by a rapper.

In his newly released follow-up, Gucci gifts his fans with his timeless wisdom through guidelines for living one’s best life. The book is loaded with stunning photographs and refines the rapper’s insight into a one of a kind guidebook.

“I live by the principles in this book. I wanted to write this book to give you a tool set,” says Mane about his second book.

Gucci Mane came out transformed from a life of crime, violence, and addiction into a symbol of positivity, power, hard work, and inspiration. In this book, Mane uses examples from his life of phenomenal success to offer fans the scheme to greatness.

This book should touch people who are going through something. It’s not going to be easy. But study these words, and put them into action,” said Mane.

He goes on to explain, “everyone needs some game, so here it is. The Gucci Mane Guide to Greatness is for the world. Enjoy.”

Everything We Know About Migos’ New Album

Published

on

Previously known as “Culture 3,” the album is yet to be released by the Atlanta trio. Below is everything we know about the project.

When Migos launched Culture’s debut chapter in 2017, the trio received so much love and praise. Songs like “Bad and Boujee” became became modern classics even earning the group the title “The Beatles Of This Generation ” which was dubbed by Donald Glover. Their style of rap and fashion largely influenced the rap industry.

In 2018 as they were releasing Culture II, their favour had dipped and many were growing to resent Migos. Many felt that they were more concerned with short term gain rather than creating long lasting work. Songs like “Narcos”, “Motorsport” and “Walk It Talk It” proved that the group still had hit-making juices in them.

People had grown tired of the Migos sound by 2018 and it didn’t help that Quavo and Takeoff had released their solo albums. The group had originally intended to release Culture III in 2019 but made a decision to delay it to 2020. 2020 is coming to an end but Culture III is still nowhere in sight.

While on an interview with Lil Wayne on the Young Money Radio series, Migos confirmed that YoungBoy was part of “Need It” which is in the Culture III album. They also said they would change the name from Culture III.

We ain’t dropped it in two years. We’re just warming up. We gon’ change the name. We gon’ push Culture III, the title, back. We changing the name this time.”

The changing of the album’s may suggest a shift in the group’s creative direction. In April 2020, Quavo seemed to change the gears when he vowed to return to the crew’s formative years with a new mixtape, a “Quarantine Mixtape” is what he called it. Months have passed without any sign of the mixtape.

In terms of collaborations, only the YoungBoy collaboration is confirmed. Back in December 2019, Offset had teased a collaboration with Juice WRLD in a song called “What’s Bracking.” It’s uncertain if the track still holds a spot. There was also recent footage of Quavo in studio with Dr.Dre and Post Malone but it’s not clear if they were meeting for this album. But in case the trio is in need of collaborations for Culture III, they can easily call in favors.

Grammy nominations were announced on Tuesday. November 24 ahead of the 2021 awards. The nominations this year as always, have sparked debate. Many feel that some artists such as The Weekend were noticeably left out of nominations for the 2021 awards. 50 Cent who is never shy about voicing his thoughts had something to say about the nominations for the Best Rap Album category.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, the rap legend shared a photo of the nominations: D Smoke, Freddie Gibbs &Alchemist, Jay Electronica, Nas and Royce Da 5’9 and called the Recording Academy “out of touch” on Wednesday, November 25.

The post’s caption read, “Best Rap Album,” followed by grinning emojis. “They out of touch this shit ain’t it, get the fuck puttta here. 50cent #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi”

50 Cent’s comments could be because of lack of nominations for Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon album on which he was an executive producer with Steven Victor and Rico Beats. On an interview with Spotify’s RapCaviar, he said he didn’t expect Pop’s album to receive a nomination because the academy doesn’t appreciate street rap unless it was because he died.

If it’s recognized it will only be because he’s gone. The content is similar to what I would do. They did not recognize mine…they are afraid to give him Grammys because they think it’s teaching the audience to want to be like Pop and to be like him is to be part of gang culture. Who do you see get Grammys that is making drill music? You mean to tell me that ain’t none of those songs worthy of it?”

He continued,” we know a lot of the guys that come up specifically in Hip Hop are rough around the edges…You hear them put it in the music the right way, it sounds so beautiful they become amazing. That’s what makes it special you know? Makes it unique.

Quality Control Music’s CEO Pierre Thomas “Pee” also wasn’t happy with the nominations and felt that Lil Baby’s My Turn, which he considers the Album of the year deserves accolades.

Whoever making decisions at the Grammys You all disconnected like a mf, you don’t speak our culture. Congrats to all the nominees. #MyTurnAlbumOfTheYear,” he shared on his Twitter account.

Let us agree, this year has not been one of the best years we have experienced, in fact,  it could be one of the worst years for most of us.

Well, for the rap community, it has been challenging considering the absence of live events and other factors.

This article will focus on celebrities that have managed to keep their music career going, despite the pandemic’s challenging effects. It is important to note that most of them are below thirty.

After signing a contract with the label, Megan released her mixtape Fever in 2019 and Good News just this November.

The pandemic however, did not stop her Savage and WAP collaborations from being nominated for the BET Hip-hop Awards. Savage won that category making her still top at the game. You can call that strategy.

Megan, throughout her career has won a total of 2 BET Awards, Billboard Women in music Award, 5 BET Hip-hop Awards among other wins and nominations.

She has been very active on her social media as well, a good way of staying connected to her fans. Songs like Savage also went viral on the famous Tiktok app, leading to increased fandom.

Originally known as Kentrell, Youngboy’s fandom grew after releasing not one, two or three mixtapes but eight independent mixtapes. His zeal for working is quite impressive and his 2017 project Untouchable, was the highlight of his career.

Out of his four projects this year, two of them hit number one on the Billboard Charts. Top that was released in September, highlighted his violent life while 38 Baby 2 talked more about his yearn for love and his struggle in general.

He also collaborated with Drake on his single Laugh Now Cry Later before blessing his fans with his single The Voice. Meek Mill also featured him on his Pain Away single from his Quarantine Pack album.

Things have been rough for this 28-year-old rapper. First, losing his father, then losing his 12 nominations in the just concluded BET Hip-hop Awards, and finally, he lost his brother Glen Johnson to suicide.

Despite all this, he has won more than four Awards in 2020. Next year seems to be a promising year for him as well, as his Rockstar and Bop projects have been nominated for different categories in the upcoming Grammy Awards.

We wish him all the luck in the world as he strives to leave a legacy.

8. Roddy Ricch

Just like Kodak Black, Lil Baby has a kind heart when it comes to giving back to society. He recently said that he will donate 1.5 million US dollars that he will make from his album, to needy families to help them deal with issues like paying bonds and lawyers.

The community, in return, has his back. When he lost his award in the recently concluded AMAs, fans were raging on Twitter claiming he was robbed.

According to them, Lil Baby has had a very successful year, starting with his My Turn album in February. After which he released a successful Deluxe version of the album a few months later. When Black Lives Matter became top of the headlines after George Floyd’s murder, he left an impact with The Bigger Picture.

Thug is good at mixing genres for everyone to enjoy. His weird and unique rap style has made him stand out in the rapping game.

This year, even without releasing his solo projects, Young Thug has charted the Billboards Top 100. Fourteen hit songs, including Franchise that he did with Travis Scott and his Go Crazy collaboration with Chris Brown, were among the projects in the list.

Young is truly a Legend in the Rap community.

There is a long list of names we have left out, rappers like Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, who is actually 28 and not 21, Tyler the Creator, Gunna, Lil Dicky( who is actually 32 but we acknowledge his work regardless) and so much more.

Their efforts have to be applauded and that is what we are doing.
