1 cup of ground cannabis flower or less, depending on your choice of potency.

1 cup of cooking oil of your choice

Tip: The recommended ratio for making cannabis oil is 1:1.

The Right Cooking Oil to Use

Choosing the most suitable type of oil will depend on the dishes you plan on cooking and the flavor of the oil. From Avocado oil, coconut oil to canola oil, you can choose one that best suits the nature of your dishes. Since different oils have different densities at room temperature, you are recommended to consider how you will be using and storing your cannabis oil.

You will need:

  • Saucepan
  • Strainer Or Cheesecloth
  • Grinder

Tip: Avoid using a blender or coffee grinder since such appliances give rise to bad-tasting plant material in cannabis.

Step 1.

Grind your cannabis flowers using a hand grinder. Avoid grinding the flower too finely as the smaller particles may pass through your strainer and  end up in your finished mixture.

Step 2.

In your saucepan, combine oil with the ground cannabis and heat on low for a few hours to allow decarboxylation. While storing frequently, add small amounts of water to the mixture to avoid scorching. Ensure the oil temperature doesn’t go beyond 245°F.

Step 3.

Strain your cannabis oil into a container using a cheesecloth. Avoid squeezing the cheesecloth since it will just add chlorophyll to your oil, giving it a bad taste.

Tip: When using your oil in preparing dishes, be sure to choose a low heat, and avoid microwaving whenever possible.

Mangoes and Marijuana: What are the Effects?

How Do Cannabis and Myrcene Interact?

For most marijuana users, it’s common trying to find ways to improve or prolong the marijuana high; such methods may include taking a tolerance break, switching strains or even mixing weed with other substances; but the easiest way to get your high elevated, is a quick stop to the grocery store.

You may have heard the rumor that eating mangoes before smoking marijuana can intensify your high, well it turns out there’s some truth to this. Mangoes contain a chemical called myrcene, which is known to alter the effects of marijuana. Most people report that eating mangoes before smoking marijuana can bring on a stronger and longer-lasting high; however, the extent to which mangoes can alter your high is not yet clear.

How Do Cannabis and Myrcene Interact?

Studies suggest that the chemical myrcene found in mangoes can alter the way marijuana affects you. Myrcene is also found in hops, bay leaves, thyme, basil, and cannabis.

Myrcene is a terpene, a chemical responsible for the aromas and flavors of a plant. The linked effect between the cannabinoids in marijuana and its terpenes is known as the entourage effect.

What Does Science Say?

Myrcene is known to have sedative effects and is said to be responsible for the couch-lock effect that tends to come from most indica strains. Cannabis strains with more than 0.5% myrcene are known to bring about much stronger sedative effects. After eating a mango, you receive a boost of myrcene, which explains the intensified effects that come along after smoking weed.

Additionally, myrcene is also known to have analgesic properties. Such that some people tend to use mangoes to boost the pain-relieving effects of marijuana.

How to Use Mango to Increase Your High

How Do Cannabis and Myrcene Interact?

Since it takes some time to digest, you might want to eat the mango before your smoking session. It’s recommended to eat a fresh ripe mango 45 minutes before smoking for the best effects.

However, this depends on the myrcene content of the mango, so you may need to try it several times with the right mangoes before you can experience the full effects.

Another factor to note when you’re planning on eating a mango to intensify your high is your metabolism rate. People with slow metabolism have better chances of feeling the marijuana-mango effect if they consume the mango 2hrs prior to using cannabis. In contrast, those with a faster metabolism may do better if they eat two or three mangoes less than an hour before consuming marijuana.

Which Other Benefits Can Mangoes Offer

Myrcene provides a distinct earthy and fruity flavor and blends nicely with flavorful strains. Eating a mango before you smoke marijuana can also lessen the cravings that come with smoking weed. A single mango has less than 135 calories. While most cannabis users tend to experience cravings for unhealthy junk foods when high, eating a mango is a much better alternative to potato chips and other snacks.

Apart from elevating your high and helping you curb the craving that comes with getting stoned, mangoes can also help decrease the risk of cancerous tumors. The fruit contains polyphenols that help to fight inflammation and lower blood sugar levels. A study conducted by Texas A&M University indicates that polyphenols in mangoes were proven to prevent inflammatory responses in cancerous breast cells. This means the fruit can help reduce the growth of cancerous tumors and cells.

As much as myrcene has been proven to heighten marijuana high, more research is needed to determine how strong the effects of mango-marijuana combo really is.

5 Things Travelers Need to Know About Flying with CBD

5 Things Travelers Need to Know About Flying with CBD

You often have to do routine checks of luggage at security checkpoints before boarding a plane. If it happens you have CBD with you, ensure you are aware of its legality. It helps you avoid being on the wrong side of the law and ensures you travel freely without any worries.

Here are some of the crucial things you need to look out for before flying with CBD.

What You Need to Know Before Flying with CBD

1.Places You Travel with CBD Oils

High Life

In America, you may travel through states with only the type of CBD derived from hemp. It contains less THC meant to stimulate your nervous system and make you high. But take caution when flying to other nations with strict laws on drugs. Most of them do not allow any across their border, even through cruises.

Wait until the FDA fully approves the legality of CBD oils. Do this before taking them with you on a flight. It may take a while, but it is worth the while.  Waiting helps you avoid being on the wrong side of the law.

2. The Benefits Gained from Using Cbd Oil while Traveling

5 Things Travelers Need to Know About Flying with CBD

People experience different symptoms and effects while traveling on air. Taking CBD helps alleviate or reduce these symptoms to ensure they enjoy their journey. It ensures they have a good night’s sleep, remain calm, and reduce jet lag.

Traveling over long distances is so tiring that you need to take some medication. Instead, you may use CBD oils to smoothen your skin and prevent it from being sore. It also reduces stiffness.

3. Confirm Whether the Oil Meets the Approved Standards

Nurse-approved CBD contains flowering strains of hemp that contain less than 0.3% of THC content. Ensure to confirm whether it went through a purity test and later a potency test to remove impurities, keeping it clean. Organic CBD is more natural and has fewer side effects as opposed to inorganic ones.

Pick one that is a whole plant to benefit from its inflammation reduction and nervous system protection properties. Confirm the base carrier oil and the extraction process used to obtain it. Wrap it up with a look at its certificate of analysis that should have a clear label.

4. Understand the Different Ways to Consume CBD oils

You may consume CBD oils in three different ways. Topical creams and edibles are free to use but must meet the traveling laws with CBD. You may carry electronic vaping devices in your carry-on bags to avoid wasting time at the checkpoint.

Ensure that none of them is from either the hemp flower or cannabis flower that are illegal. Doing so prevents security dogs and security officers from identifying you as a suspect. Pilots are exempted from using CBD products of any kind.

5. Evaluate the Type of CBD Oil You Travel with

You may only travel with CBD oils derived from hemp and not marijuana across borders. It is legal to have the one from hemp because it contains less than 0.3% of THC levels, making it good for your health. It is different from the marijuana extract, which is above the limits to which the human body can consume at high intakes.

You may have to fly with the latter when they receive approval by the FDA and are dry weight. The FDA checks it by taking it to the lab to run tests that confirm cannabinoid content.

Stay Updated on CBD Policies

Ensure you stay updated about the CBD policy by going through FDA websites to ensure you board the plane. The above tips guide you but ensure to cross-check with the rules of the country before carrying it.

The 5 Best Soils For Growing Weed

The 5 Best Soils For Growing Weed

Cannabis, like any other plant, requires oxygen, water, and soil for its growth. These factors will determine the health, growth rate, and how the final yield would be for your plant. Between the water, oxygen, and soil, the soil is the easiest factor that could be modified to best suit the needs of a Cannabis plant.

Getting a high-quality Cannabis plant will require you to set very specific soil conditions that have created a booming soil industry. These soils have been altered by the industry by adding specific amounts of nutrients that will promote the better growth of the Cannabis Plant.

Most growers state that they would prefer having a soil that is dark and rich, with Loose grains that can drain water without it looking muddy. Some will go for a ‘hot’ soil. This kind of soil releases nutrients slowly over time and all you have to do is add water and some natural elements. Others prefer lighter soils which gives them the chance to control how much the plant takes in nutrients. Growing weed in a way that shows its best traits and develops trichome-rich flowers, needs attention to details and care.

Let’s take a look at 5 of the best soils for growing weed whether at your home or somewhere else.

How to Make a Joint Burn Slower and Last Longer: 8 Tips

8 Tips on How to Make a Joint Burn Slower and Last Longer

Smoking a joint is a relaxing affair, and most people would like to find ways to extend that experience. There are many aspects you need to consider in order to make your blunt last longer. When these factors are successfully put in place, you will likely end up with a joint that burns slowly, more evenly, and with a stronger high. This is because a slow burn allows for the breakdown of all the active compounds present in cannabis flowers.

Getting your blunt to burn slow will not only save your weed but also improve your smoking experience.

Below are several simple techniques you can use to make your last longer:

How to Make a Joint Burn Slower and Last Longer

1. Properly Grind your Cannabis

Cannabis that are properly grinded have a significant impact on the way a blunt burns. Large chunks of the bud may lead to uneven burns, which means you would waste a lot of the product just by trying to keep it lit. Flowers that are properly ground ensure an evenly burning blunt, which prevents rapid combustion of the bud.

2. Choose the Right Rolling Papers

The kind of rolling paper you use to roll your blunt makes a big difference. The thicker the paper, the faster the joint burns. Therefore it’s best to avoid thick rolling paper and go for thin or ultra-thin rolls. The most popular rolling paper preferred by many smokers is RAW; it’s made out of hemp and is also thin and suitable. Thin rolling papers tend to burn slower and result in a more pleasant and healthy overall experience.

3. Use Hash Oil to Make Joints Burn Slower

Hash oil not only makes your joint burn slower but also increases its potency. After filling your rolling paper with cannabis, evenly drop some hash oil throughout the blunt, then roll. The thick sticky consistency of the oil helps reduce the blunt’s burning rate.

4. Add Honey to Make Joints Burn Slower

Honey works just like hash oil since it’s similarly thick and sticky. It helps slow down the amount of time it takes for a blunt to burn. However, the trick is to add the honey in moderation; adding too much will make the rolling paper soggy.

Before adding in your cannabis flower, smear a thin layer of honey on the inside of your rolling paper, then add your cannabis and roll.

5. Roll Tight Joints Which Will Burn Slower

The looser your joint, the faster it burns. Too much air flowing through your blunt makes it burn quickly and unevenly. You can improve the burning rate of your joint by rolling it tight enough.

6. Roll Backwards for Slower-burning Joints

Rolling your joint backwards is an excellent way to improve burning rate. Not only does it produce a blunt that burns smoothly and slowly, but it ensures you inhale less paper smoke.

7. Use Properly Dried and Cured Cannabis

Curing is the stage of cannabis cultivation that comes before drying and involves storing weed into airtight containers for prolonged amounts of time. When the bud is not cured correctly, it’ll burn at a much higher rate than properly cured buds. Curing allows the bud to retain and conserve a significant amount of moisture, which stops it from rapidly burning.

8. Take Lighter and Longer Hits

Try not to draw in too much smoke when inhaling. Smaller and softer hits will make the joint burn longer.

There is a lot you can do to keep your blunt burning longer. Not all of these steps are easy to apply, but choose the most suitable one and enjoy a lasting smoking session.
