How to Roll a Joint: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Roll a Joint

Being able to roll a joint that’s perfect is not a skill that many people possess, even among long-term stoners. It’s not hard to learn this noble skill, but there’s a vast array of methods used in consuming the THC/CBD-rich buds of the marijuana plant.

With elaborate high-tech bongs to ultra-efficient dabbing rigs to choose from, it shouldn’t surprise you to discover that you probably can’t roll a joint using your hands.

Luckily for you, this article will not only help you learn how to roll a joint expertly, but you’ll also gain invaluable insights into this age-old joint-rolling tradition.

Getting the Right Rolling Papers

Regardless of your preferred brand, a single sheet of a standard rolling paper is 68-70mm (2.57inches) in length and 34-36mm (1.4inces) in width. Each sheet from a pack of rolling papers is made from thin, light-weight natural non-wood plant fibers derived from flax, hemp, and straw, and features a narrow strip of gum along one length.

Using a single sheet of standard rolling paper, you can roll an exquisite joint whose maximum length is 70mm (3.32inches) and with an optimal diameter of 10mm (0.4 inches).

A typical booklet of rolling papers has 3 in 2-64 pure-white rolling sheets, with some brands offering as many as 300 sheets.

Rolling papers don’t have to be boring. You can get translucent ones, uniformly colored, decorated with intricate patterns, and featuring an array of tantalizing scents.

These specialty brands incorporate additional non-toxic ingredients that grant the colors, scents/flavors, and other unique attributes you observe on individual joint-rolling sheets.

However, you do not need to buy special rolling paper to roll a perfect joint of your favorite sticky-icky. Furthermore, various rolling paper alternatives allow you to accomplish this same feat and include emptied-out cigarettes, dry corn husks, and even dry leaves.

We shall restrict this how-to-guide to your everyday rolling paper brands that feature standard-sized rolling sheets for practical reasons.

Preparing Your Buds for Joint Rolling

If you get your cannabis from a registered dispensary, your plastic satchel of weed consists of the marijuana plant’s whole heads. This is because cannabis flowers boast the highest concentration of THC/CBD compared to other parts of the plant, including leaves, stems, and seeds.

Consuming whole heads is not a problem when you plan on using a pipe/chalice or bong to smoke your sticky-icky. However, two notable issues arise when you try to roll a joint using entire cannabis heads:

First, the blunt that you roll must be three to four times as thick as a standard joint to accommodate the large head size of mainstream cannabis Indica and Sativa strains. This feat only requires that you buy special large-size roll paper and demands a high level of skill to realize effectively.

Second, a thick joint wastes a lot of THC/CBD as smoke because the weed not only burns unevenly but does so at low temperatures, which favor incomplete combustion of the plant matter.

Consequently, you need to ensure your weed is fine enough to roll a perfect joint that features up to 0.66 grams of potent cannabis buds.

You have a choice of three routes when it comes to fining down your weed for the ideal hand-rolled joint.

Manual Preparation

You use your fingers to delicately pick apart individual cannabis heads to obtain a small pile of fine-sized flower buds for your joint. The advantage of this approach is that it doesn’t require tools or any level of skill.

However, manually preparing your weed for rolling a joint is not only time consuming but also wastes the THC/CBD residue that sticks to your fingertips.

This sticky residue makes it incredibly hard to roll a perfect joint because your fingers end up sticking to the rolling paper.

Using a Pair of Scissors

You use a pair of small and sharp scissors to snip off individual flower buds from each cannabis head, after which you then cut up large buds into even smaller sizes.

This approach features minimal wastage of THC/CBD-rich residue and does not hinder you from rolling a joint. However, using a pair of scissors to fine down your cannabis buds for a joint roll is still time-consuming.

Using a Purpose-Built Grinder

Weed grinders feature a perforated stainless steel grate that efficiently grinds down whole heads into fine particles via a hand-operated lever.

Using a purpose-built grinder not only saves time but allows you to achieve fine-sized weed for the perfect hand-rolled joint.

Making the Perfect Hand-rolled Blunt

After obtaining a standard pack of rolling paper and finely ground cannabis buds, then you can finally embark on the final stage of rolling your joint.

The steps for achieving a perfect hand-rolled joint are as follows: –

STEP 1: Place the finely ground cannabis buds in a neat pile on a clean, flat, and smooth surface. The surface can be a glass, stainless steel, polished hardwood, granite, or marble tabletop.

The smooth and flat surface ensures you get to roll a joint with every grain of your THC/CBD-rich cannabis buds, especially while making more than one hand-rolled joint.

STEP 2: Extract a single sheet of rolling paper from the booklet with one hand and hold it between your other hand’s forefinger and thumb.

Ensure that the rolling paper’s gummed edge is farthest from you, as this allows you to lick this edge while finishing up your joint.

Furthermore, the center crease of the sheet should suitably align with your thumb, with either half of the sheet lifting slightly on either side of the thumb to form a V-shaped trough.

STEP 3: With your free hand, pinch a small amount of the fine cannabis buds between your forefinger and thumb, and sprinkle the dope length-wise along the V-shaped trough of the rolling paper.

Repeat this step until the trough is two-thirds full to either length-wise edge of the rolling sheet.

At this point, you may consider adding a filter at one end of the joint. This filter ensures you don’t throw away the final bit of your smoked blunt.

STEP 4: Hold the opposite edge of the rolling paper with your other hand between the forefinger and thumb.

Make sure you carefully remove both thumbs from the center crease of the paper to avoid spilling the finely-ground dope from your joint, and the filter as well.

With the center crease of the sheet suitably located over the middle and forefingers, use your free thumbs to bring the two halves of the rolling paper together.

STEP 5: Use both thumbs and forefingers to gently and gradually compact the weed inside the rolling paper towards the center edge. You can use the filter on one end of the blunt as a reference.

Doing so should evenly distribute the finely-ground to along the full length of the rolling sheet’s V-shaped trough.

Having reached this point, you can now begin the actual rolling motions that produce the cylindrical shape of a joint.

STEP 6: Begin by simultaneously moving both forefingers and thumbs slowly in opposite directions. Do this while still compacting the weed in the trough to ensure you retain the cylindrical shape of the joint.

Once you have established the cylinder shape, you need to roll the paper’s non-gummed edge downwards until it aligns with the compacted weed in your joint.

Finalize your hand-rolled joint by ultimately winding the non-gummed edge over the compacted buds and roll the blunt till you reach the gummed edge. Lightly lick the gum on edge and fold it down over the completed roll.

If you’ve reached this final step, then you’ve succeeded at rolling a joint that has just made your very first hand-rolled blunt. Note that you may have to add some buds to the end of the rolled blunt without a filter before twisting the ends to lock in the finely-ground buds.

Jamaica Faces Marijuana Shortage: “Cultural Embarrassment”

Jamaica Faces Marijuana Shortage: "Cultural Embarrassment

The land of Ganja is facing a shortage of Marijuana, a crop that has long been associated with Jamaicans. The shortage of Marijuana in Jamaica has been linked to the long rains experienced in the area followed by a prolonged drought. According to one of the farmers who has been growing the crop in the area, stated that he has only harvested 300 pounds out of the 700 pounds he usually gathers.

The rains destroyed most of the crops, and what remained was scorched by the drought that followed. This has led to the loss of tens of thousands of dollars for farmers who depend on the crop for their daily bread.

Other factors have also been said to have worsened the problems that these Ganja farmers face. Lack of good roads, Covid 19 measure, and new Marijuana policies are among these factors. Farmers who used to tend to their crops at night can no longer do so due to the Covid 19 measures. Bad roads have been a problem where farmers needed to fetch water for their crops.

The country had imposed a new policy that stated that people would be allowed to have small doses of the still illegal drug. Ironically, farmers blame this policy for the low harvests experienced in the area. Traditional ganja farmers have watched as police officers destroyed their fields since they could not meet the government’s conditions for legal marijuana growing.

Triston Thompson, the chief opportunity explorer for Tacaya, was recorded stating that the situation as a ‘Cultural embarrassment.’ “Last year was the worst year. … We’ve never had this amount of loss,” Thompson said. “It’s something so laughable that cannabis is short in Jamaica.”

The news seems to have taken the world by surprise as people are reacting to the news with mixed feelings. Farmers can only hope for the best on the next farming season.

How Long Does Weed Stay Good For?

How Long Does Weed Stay Good For?

Some people believe that weed is like wine, the more it’s kept, the higher you will get. Sorry to disappoint you folks, but in the weed world, that is not how it works. You might have come across weed lying around the house or some bag you had forgotten. This makes you question the lifespan of weed.

How long does weed stay long for? What’s its shelf life?

When it comes to weed, the potency, the THC percentage is what keeps reducing. Simultaneously, the weed may grow molds which may affect you if you have an underlying medical condition. With reduced potency where the weed is used for medical purposes, it will not serve its purpose as it should. In this article we take a look at the factors that lead to your weed going bad and how you can carefully store it for better future use.

How Long Weed Stays Good For

How Long Does Weed Stay Good For?

It’s clear as day that as time goes on, the potency of the weed reduces. Scientific research has shown how long weed will stay good for after a period. On average, weed will lose its potency at the following rates:

  • After one year, it will roughly lose 16% of its THC
  • After 2 years, it loses 26% of the THC
  • After 3 years, 34% of the THC is gone
  • By end of the 4th year, it loses 41% of the THC

Why Weed Goes Bad

How Long Does Weed Stay Good For?

Nothing will beat the feeling of disappointment that follows you after you smoke a few blunts and you can not even get high. The introduction of stash, boxes may be the answer. This is because they take care of these conditions that deteriorate the quality of your stash. These factors are:

  • Temperature- weed is temperature-sensitive. Certain temperatures provide ideal conditions that bacteria and mold can fully flourish on your weed. To store your weed and ensure it doesn’t go bad, the temperatures should not go over 70° Fahrenheit
  • Humidity– High humidity is not good for your weed. The humidity provides good conditions to attract fungal diseases. Low humidity will ensure the weed flavor changes and make it ammoniated and brittle
  • UV rays- keep your weed from the sun. Sunlight rays have radiations that increase the rate of THC breaking down making your weed lose its potency quicker than it should

Keeping these conditions in check increases your probability of keeping your weed potency as high as possible and decreases the risk of getting your weed infested. But how do you get to keep these conditions in check? Well, we will show you how to store but first. How do you know your weed is bad?

How to Tell if Your Weed Is Bad

Telling an old weed from a fresh weed is as easy as ABC. This can be done through:

  • Old weed crumbles and lacks any smell
  • Old weed is spongy and damp. It has mold on it

Okay, the truth is smoking a damp, easy scrambling and no smelling weed affects you. What makes weed weed is high that follows it. Again, it can make you super sick, especially if you know you have an underlying condition.

How to Store Your Weed

To keep your weed safe just follow these three simple steps:

  • Avoid plastic bags- storing your weed in a plastic bag may prevent any air from ruining your weed, but it does you no justice since it attracts high humidity
  • Temperature controlled environment- this limits your weed from getting infected by fungal diseases like mold. An uncontrolled temperature environment will make your weed lose its potency and flavor
  • Air-tight containers- they will prevent moisture from interacting with your weed hence ensuring that the potency is still at its best. Keeping oxygen out will also act to prevent oxidization of the THC compound

Final Thoughts

Your weed may go bad if subjected to the given condition above. Keeping the potency at its best and ensuring that your weed does not waste away is easy if you can create the relevant conditions needed. If all your weed is wasted away and you need some new good kush, visit us and we will show you the best breeds in the market.

Pennsylvania Governor Makes Marijuana Legalization a Priority Agenda in 2021

Pennsylvania Governor Makes Marijuana A Priority Agenda In 2021

Thomas Westerman Wolf, the Governor of Pennsylvania, is strongly pushing for the legalization of Marijuana in the state.

In a statement made by the Governor’s office, it read, “In 2017, Pennsylvania legalized medical Marijuana through bipartisan legislationNow as our neighbors move toward legalizing recreational Marijuana, Pennsylvania cannot afford to be left behind. Legalizing adult-use cannabis has strong bipartisan support among Pennsylvanians“.

The Governor supported the plan claiming that it will boost small businesses and boost the economy in the long run.

Communities that have been affected negatively by illegal Marijuana will be helped through new justice programs.

The Coronavirus pandemic negatively impacted the economy, not only in Pennsylvania. To restore the economy and even boost it, the legalization of Marijuana will play a significant role.

In a statement, Wolf said, “To get Pennsylvania back on track from the disruptions the pandemic is causing, we need to make major, targeted investments to strengthen our economy, support workers and small business owners, rebuild our infrastructure, and help all Pennsylvanians build a path to financial security.”

The Governor has pushed for the legalization plan since the beginning of 2019. The Democratic Governor blames the Republicans for turning a deaf ear to the health crisis.

Thomas Wolf has the support of Governor John Fetterman. Fetterman has a flag in his office that shows the marijuana leaf.

The Governor insisted, “There’s already a thriving marijuana market in Pennsylvania. Why not make it legal, why not make it safe and why not make it taxable to help Pennsylvania get back on its feet?”

Opioid Prescription Reduce Drastically in Canada After Decriminalization of Marijuana

Opioid Prescription Reduce Drastically in Canada After Decriminalization of Marijuana

Opioids work like morphine mostly, and they get used for pain relief (including anesthesia). In Canada, marijuana was decriminalized back in 2018 (17th October) and has since been accessible.

A recent study carried out by the University of Toronto shows the difference in opioid consumption before and after legalization.

The researchers experimented between 2016 (January) and 2019 (June).

Study Findings

The amount of money spent on opioids reduced drastically from two hundred and sixty-seven thousand to ninety-five thousand monthly.

There was a drastic drop in opioid use from seventy-nine mg/claim to thirty mg/claim.

There was also a decrease of opioid medication logged in the medical system and a general reduction in prescription numbers.

When comparing before and after legalization for the Morphine Equivalent Dose, it declined more than five times. The original figure stood at twenty-two but reduced to four milligrams per claim.

Our findings support the hypothesis that easier access to cannabis for pain may reduce opioid use for both public and private drug plans,” explained the study.

The legalization of marijuana supports the population that the accessibility of marijuana can reduce the use of opioids.

Additionally, the fact that marijuana is useful in the pain reduction process, most patients have chosen to use it instead of opioids.
