YouTube has been down worldwide for 60 minutes, causing global chaos

It’s not just you

William Joel / The Verge

YouTube seems to be having issues loading videos right now. Several New Culture staffers are having trouble watching videos, and YouTube has confirmed that something is going on:

The issue appears to affect other services that use the YouTube infrastructure too, including YouTube TV and the movies and TV shows you’d purchase through Google TV (formerly known as Google Play Movies & TV). We couldn’t load them.

In our testing so far, the YouTube website seems to load just fine, but videos themselves will continuously show the loading wheel. One New Culture staffer got a video to load after about a minute.

Users on Wednesday evening began reporting widespread issues with YouTube’s services, including YouTube TV and YouTube Music, according to Downdetector.

DownDetector is also showing a truly tremendous number of user reports of problems with YouTube, indicating the problem is widespread — as I write this, the DownDetector graph is spiking at more than 256,000 user reports in less than an hour. Numerous users on Twitter are reporting that YouTube isn’t working for them, either, and searches are spiking for “is YouTube down.”

The outage appeared to impact users around the world but was most heavily concentrated in the US, according to Downdetector.

Downdetector’s outage map for YouTube suggested that the issues were mostly concentrated in the US, particularly in the Northeast, as well as some parts of Europe, South America, and Australia.

YouTube didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.

A recovering Boosie Badazz is already lining up club appearances and performances for this weekend. The rapper who needs a third surgery is recovering from a shooting which left him needing two surgeries on his leg. He revealed that he requires a third surgery for him to fully recover.

Boosie recently suffered a gunshot wound on his leg following a memorial tribute to his slain friend and associate rapper Mo3. The shooting took place in Dallas, Texas. Rumors began circulating of potential complications with the alarming worst-case scenario speculating an amputation given that Boosie has suffered from Diabetes for a long time.

Boosie immediately took to Twitter to dispel those rumors. He tweeted.

OUT THE HOSPITAL #athome Thanks to all the ones who prayed fa me. N YEAH I STILL GOT MY LEG.”

We would be expecting the rapper to have plenty of rest and to avoid staying on his feet for too long but contrary to our expectations, the Baton Bouge rap legend took to Instagram to announce getting back to the grind.

On his Instagram account, he shared a video of himself watching his kids play. As the video starts, Boosie shows his heavily bandaged leg that’s on an elevated surface. His following posts were to promote parties that he will be hosting in Alabama and South Carolina.

His various captions read,

He’ll also be celebrating Thanksgiving from the club and is headed to another state for a Birthday Bash on Saturday.

We stan a man who’s always on the grind. Hopefully, he gets to rest as much as he’s on the grind. Wishing Boosie a speedy recovery.

Remembering XXXtentacion 2 Years On: How Hip-Hop Stars Reacted to his Death

With the case still going on, Xxxtentacion’s death left many people troubled. His fans, his family and even celebrities, some of whom he looked up to.

Here are a few sentiments shared by stars on the 20-year-old rapper’s untimely death.

1. 50 Cent

Despite 50 Cent not knowing Xxxtentacion personally, he had a lot to say about his music considering he is a rapper who keeps up with modern hip-hop trends.

Highlighting that Xxxtentacion was still too young, Fif said he had so much potential in him. Triple was termed this generation’s Tupac by fans while he was still alive and according to 50 Cent, Spotify is disrespecting him.

Fif says the company is earning from his music long after his death but when he was still alive, they claimed his music violated their policy on hateful conduct.

2.Kendrick Lamar

Still on Spotify’s ‘Hate content and conduct’ policy, the Humble hit maker called out Spotify for the inconsiderate act. He was a lover of the rapper’s music and at one point he even termed his 17 album’s lyrics “RAW“.

3. Big Sean

After his death, Big Sean took to Twitter explaining how shook he was about the young rapper’s death.

Just like Fif, he didn’t know him personally but he stated that X put so much passion into his music and the messages he was trying to pass across.

The tweet ended with the rapper saying Triple X did not deserve that kind of death.

4. J Cole

In an interview, Cole openly stated that he met the late rapper virtually on FaceTime .He added that in their more-than-two-hour talk, he understood that X was mentally disturbed and that he was eager to be a better person.

Cole also said Xxx left a mark on him after the call and that despite his personal ups and downs, Xxxtentacion could have offered the world more of his great work because of the zeal that he had inside him.

5. NLE Choppa

Terming his music ‘beautiful’, Choppa says that he listened to Triple X’s music to help him cope with his mental issues. He said that it had an impact on his mood.

6. Kanye West

In a farewell message, Ye thanked Triple X for existing and added that he was a source of  inspiration for him, just that he never got a chance to open up to him.

Fans bashed him however, for hesitating to sign X when he was alive. They claimed he was doing the most to honor him including designing a shit with the late rapper as the theme.

7. Lil Uzi Vert

According to Uzi, XXX was his only competitor in the music industry. He said this shortly after attending Triple X’s memorial service where he played Look at Me as his way of paying his last respects.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Lil Uzi shared his intention to start a foundation in honor of the deceased rapper. He wrote that it would be dedicated to upcoming artists who die from drug and gun violence.

8. PNB Rock

One can argue that PNB Rock was the most affected by his death as he the late rapper had a very close relationship. After their Changes collaboration went platinum, Rock had a lot to say about his ‘brother’.

He started off by acknowledging their success after which he added that the feeling of happiness is not the same as he was not there to share the joy.

Rock stated that Xxx had a musical spirit that can’t be matched. He finished his caption saying that he will miss the rapper for a lot of things.

9.Rob Stone

Rob And Xxx had beefs that led to them even making diss tracks for each other. The two of them however cleared it out when the slain rapper approached him for a talk.

In his eulogy message, Rob Stone said he “would never wish death on another human being” and he acknowledged the rapper’s humility to reach out and straighten things out.

He also claimed that he did this for their supporters to get closure on the matter asking them to learn from it and be the change required to end the violence.

10.Young Thug

Young Thug acknowledged the upcoming star’s talent and asked fans to tag him because he wanted to work with him because he was a dope writer. X only responded with an eye emoji.

11. Jermaine Dupri

Jermaine is great at sporting talent and he sure noticed Triple X’s great artwork. The So-So Def founder says he talked to usher about his music and that he was saddened by his untimely death as he thought the rapper would make it big in the industry.

Those are just but a few thoughts on the legendary rapper. What did you think about Xxxtentacion? Let us know.

50 Cent Disses Jeezy Over Versuz Tweeting ‘21 Savage Was Right’

Seems like 50 Cent won’t be pressing the play button on Jeezy’s new album.

Last night, nearly two million people were glued to their screens to watch the live-stream of Gucci Mane and Jeezy’s historic battle on Versuz. In a surprising turn of events, the 15-year rivals decided to bury the hatchet. The live-stream that started at a tense note went on to end at a peaceful one. There were some heart-warming moments such as when the two artistes performed ‘Icy’ verses together and danced happily.

Of course, the hip hop community had differing opinions regarding the matter. While some felt inspired by Jeezy who decided to remain calm after Gucci Mane performed ‘Truth’, a diss track where he flaunts killing one of Jeezy’s old friends, others felt that it was a show of weakness. Among those that thought that Jeezy had shown weakness were Freddie Gibbs and 50 Cent.

It does not come as a surprise that the two thought so since they had received harsh words on Jeezy’s recent ‘Therapy For My Soul’.

He even went to tweet and involve 21 Savage who had called out Jeezy on Savage Mode II. His tweet read:

“Oh shit, LMAO @21savage was right, that boy booty”

and even went on to add a peach emoji and laughing emojis.

No matter which side you are on, you can’t deny that Jeezy and Gucci Mane made history last night. We can only hope the two now love each other enough to collaborate together after a 15-year feud.
